Tell us a bit about the UAE Alumni Group
The UAE Alumni Group welcomes all Strathclyders located in the UAE, and alumni can particularly benefit from the group's close relationship with Strathclyde's Dubai MBA Centre. The group brings together a network of Strathclyde alumni in senior positions across all sectors in the UAE in both local and multinational organisations such as First Abu Dhabi Bank, ADNOC, Visa, E&, and the big 4 accounting firms.
The UAE Alumni Group committee has played a key role in shaping and supporting alumni engagement in the region, and has helped create a vibrant, active alumni community through events, networking, and continuous engagement. Graduates remain closely connected to Strathclyde long after completing their studies - whether they study at the MBA Centre in Dubai or at the John Anderson campus in Glasgow.
Collaboration with alumni groups from other institutions has created wider networks and fostered cross-community connections, enriching the alumni experience. At the same time, UAE alumni remain strongly connected to Strathclyde’s global network, offering opportunities for professional exchange, international networking, and broader community engagement.
What can Strathclyders expect if they get involved with the UAE Alumni Group?
Alumni can grow their network, exchange ideas, and stay connected
Traditions like Ramadan iftars have become warm, inclusive gatherings that allow alumni to reconnect in a meaningful setting. Our monthly Meet & Mingle events provide an informal platform for alumni to grow their network, exchange ideas, and stay connected, and the SBS Dialogue Hub has emerged as a space for deeper conversations, knowledge-sharing, and expert-led discussions, keeping alumni intellectually engaged beyond their formal studies.
To make engagement more tailored and relevant, smaller subcommunities have been introduced, bringing together Strathclyders with shared interests from entrepreneurship to sustainability and beyond.
How can Strathclyders develop their careers and professional skills with the UAE Alumni Group?
The alumni-led Strathclyde University Entrepreneurial Advisory Board offers a free mentorship programme for startups in the UAE and beyond, offering graduates a variety of ways to engage with and benefit from programme. The Board is made up of 11 alumni who are all experienced experts in their respective fields, and volunteer their time to guide and mentor aspiring entrepreneurs.
The Board advises startups on everything from pitching to company structure, financing, and operational issues, and build strong, lasting relationships with mentees to really understand and support their long-term goals.
