Engage with our academicsKnowledge Transfer Partnerships

KTP (Knowledge Transfer Partnerships) is a UK-wide programme that has been running for over 45 years and has helped organisations in all sectors and of all sizes to innovate and grow. More recently a Management KTP has been created to focus specifically on management-based projects to increase business effectiveness and productivity. A KTP can help you to access the expertise you need to realise a strategic business opportunity. It can help your organisation develop new products or processes, access new markets or improve your productivity. A KTP provides access to our academics who will work with you to embed new knowledge and capabilities within your organisation.

A KTP is a three way partnership between your organisation, the university and a recently qualified graduate who works within your organisation to deliver the project. Each KTP project lasts between 12 and 36 months, with Innovate UK – the UK’s Innovation agency – providing up to 67% of the eligible costs. The aim of the KTP is to help you achieve significant increased profitability.

KTP projects help strengthen the relationship between your organisation and the university and often lead to ongoing collaboration. Here at Strathclyde Business School we have worked with many businesses in this way.

In essence, KTPs offer:

  • External expert support and expertise
  • Enhanced competitive advantage
  • Accelerated business growth and productivity
  • Flexibility of project duration (12-36 months), resource allocation and scope, ensuring the KTP meets your business needs
