Our student projects can address company challenges and can range from just a few days in length to months of student effort. Shorter projects are typically class assignments while the longer projects usually involve student dissertations. Co-designing a project allows us to align the organisational need and the educational outcomes of the student programme of study.
Our students can help organisations find solutions to a specific problem or can help support an ongoing project. Benefits for an organisation include:
- Accessing skills and knowledge from emerging talent supported by academic staff
- Engaging with potential future employees
- Fresh perspectives and new ideas
A project can be undertaken by our undergraduate and postgraduate students with interests and knowledge in general business and management, such as the MBA & General Management and the Management Development Programme, as well as with specialist knowledge in our areas of scholarship:
- Accounting and Finance
- Economics
- Hunter Centre for Entrepreneurship, Strategy and Innovation
- Management Science
- Marketing
- Work, Employment and Organisation
Projects our students have engaged in with business have included:
- A company looking for strategic options to leverage its debt and provide strategic direction for the future to retain its marketing position
- Exploration of a restructuring strategy for a new collaborative partnership
- A luxury chain of hotels exploring options for entry into Asian markets
- The impact of technology on the customer experience across varied customer journeys
