SISC researchers respond to Scottish Government consultation on community benefits
The Scottish Government were seeking views on ways to improve how communities will receive additional benefits from renewable energy developments. The consultation closed 11th April. SISC researchers drew on two key publications in their response – their Guiding Principles and Actions framework for community benefits, and their work on community participation for community benefits from natural capital projects.

A new Guiding Principles and Actions framework to enhance the long-term value of Community Benefit Funds across Scotland and beyond has been published. The framework will help to ensure the financial contributions linked to low-carbon projects deliver sustained benefit to communities.

New SISC PhD researcher will help leverage smart energy solutions to tackle fuel poverty
Jan Jasinski, is a new PhD researcher at the University of Strathclyde funded by the Malcolm Wicks Memorial Fund to study how to make low-carbon energy solutions more accessible to low-income households struggling with fuel poverty. His research will explore the reasons behind the current adoption gap and propose solutions for a more equitable approach.

New report: Community participation for community benefits from natural capital projects
The Strathclyde Institute for Sustainable Communities has released its first report on Community participation for community benefits from natural capital projects. The work reviews best practice approaches for facilitating community inclusion and participation to generate lasting community benefit from nature-based projects. We advise ten guiding principles that should shape community participation in natural capital projects.
