Conferencing & EventsVisitor Charter

Six things you can do to help save the planet!

We are working to make our venue more eco-friendly, but we need YOUR help!

We can all reduce our impact on the environment by making choices.  As a visitor you have a very important role to play in helping us to conserve our natural assets and become a more sustainable venue.

How you can help:

Conserve energy

Reduce energy by switching off lights and reducing the air-conditioning. Use the stairs instead of the lifts.

The Energy Saving Trust provides information on what you can do at home.

Give the car a rest

Leave the car behind, if only for a day. If you have to take the car, why not consider car sharing. Walk, cycle or use public transport – TIC is ideally located in Glasgow city centre, within walking distance of the rail & bus stations and underground, and close to cycle routes throughout the city.

Reduce, reuse, recycle

Think of alternative ways to provide information to your delegates.

Return unused conference materials to the local organiser to reuse or recycle. Reuse exhibition and display materials at your next event!

Recycle waste in our recycling bins located throughout the venue.

Respect nature and your surroundings

Help us to look after the landscape and wildlife by not littering and instead put all waste in the recycling bins. Please use designated cycle routes and footpaths.

Shop local

Use local products, they give you a flavour of the area and help support local communities. We are fortunate to have some fantastic producers of food, drink and arts and crafts in the Merchant City.  Ask us about local markets or local and regional produce.

Support green businesses

There are thousands of businesses working to reduce their carbon footprint through the Green Tourism Business Scheme.  Businesses are awarded Bronze, Silver and Gold for their efforts to be more sustainable.
