MSc International ManagementAmey Kadam

Education is the most powerful weapon one can use to change this world. The nature of the MSc International Management (MIM) course is broad, giving an excellent holistic view of international business. You learn how to conduct business across different markets in a rapidly changing landscape.

Just like many of us, I flew miles away from home, crossed seven oceans, and landed in country with a new currency, unpredictable seasons, and incredibly diverse cultures. I told myself, ‘Well, welcome to the United Kingdom - new adventures and new lessons await at Strathclyde.

“World's biggest problems need the world's best thinkers, that’s exactly what Strathclyde inspires us to be.”

Amey Kadam studied the MSc International Management from 2024-25

Ambition into action

From consulting projects to launching Aramy Realty Private Limited, my own real estate venture, Strathclyde helped turn ambition into action, all in the heart of “The Place of Useful Learning.” While gaining practical experience, I simultaneously managed my new venture and was fortunate to successfully acquire three brownfield projects in Mumbai, India. These projects have a combined topline value of 6.5 billion, developing over 200,000 sq.ft of residential and commercial space, focusing on affordable luxury living.

Before joining the MIM course, I was working as an Assistant Manager in the Business Development & Strategy team of a leading real estate developer in Mumbai, India. My role allowed me to work on high-impact projects involving greenfield and brownfield acquisitions, market analysis, fundraising, investment evaluation, and strategic expansion. These experiences deepened my passion for urban development and strengthened my ambition to become a real estate developer.

Choosing the MIM

I wanted to deepen my understanding of international business and expand my vision beyond domestic markets. I’ve always believed that the key to success in real estate lies in understanding global trends, sustainable strategies, and market dynamics. The MIM programme offered exactly the kind of practical and strategic learning I was looking for, especially with its international focus. I also wanted to gain the confidence to take my own entrepreneurial steps and that’s exactly what happened during the course.

Strathclyde’s reputation in international business, its strong alumni network, and the modern, practical approach to learning stood out to me. Glasgow as a city also appealed to me - it’s vibrant, friendly, and very student-oriented. The course content felt aligned with what I wanted to learn from global strategy to entrepreneurship and I really liked that the assessments were based on real-world applications like group projects and live consulting work. Strathclyde truly lives up to its ethos of being 'the place of useful learning'. Everything we studied had practical relevance, and the skills I gained could be applied immediately both in academic projects and in my professional ventures.

Turning point

The programme has been a turning point in my career. It provides a truly holistic view of business on an international level.

One of the highlights for me was the Global Business Environment (GBE) module led by Professor Dr Dilshod Makhmadshoev. His engaging teaching style, emphasis on critical thinking, and real-world case discussions helped me understand the complexities of operating in global markets. The module pushed me to think more strategically about global trends, market entry, and the ethical dimensions of international business. Another highlight was the Professional Management Practice (PMP) module by Dr Kathryn Thory, which emphasised the value of soft skills such as communication, empathy, and adaptability skills that are increasingly vital for success in today’s dynamic, AI-driven workforce.

Leadership role

I also had the opportunity to serve as the Programme Representative for the MIM cohort, representing and supporting a diverse group of over 50 students. This leadership role allowed me to collaborate closely with faculty and university services to enhance the student experience. I was honoured to be nominated for the Rep of the Year Award 2025 and even more thrilled to win the award. It was a proud moment that reflected the impact I was able to make within the Strathclyde community, and I was proud to bring the Rep of the Year Award to Strathclyde Business School.

Diverse cohort

I enjoyed the diverse cohort students from so many different countries brought in varied perspectives and it really enriched every group discussion. I also appreciated the access to guest lectures, entrepreneurship support, and student societies. The university offers a very well-rounded environment that goes beyond the academic.

A great fit

If you're interested in understanding how business works globally and want to develop practical skills for managing across markets, this course is a great fit. It encourages entrepreneurial thinking and critical analysis, and it’s well-structured for those who want to start something of their own or work internationally.

Entrepreneurial progress

While pursuing my degree at Strathclyde I continued leading the company I founded at the age of 19, Aramy Realty, a real estate development firm based in Mumbai, India. I also led a strategic acquisition of three brownfield projects during the time at Strathclyde Business School, which became the foundation of our development. Our mission is to provide affordable and sustainable living solutions for families aspiring to own a home in tier-1 cities. I credit a lot of this progress to the skills, knowledge, and mindset I developed at Strathclyde - the course gave me the confidence to take real action.

Being at Strathclyde has been a transformative journey. It’s a place that gives you both the structure and the freedom to shape your future - a true embodiment of the “Place of Useful Learning”.

Be proactive; take every opportunity to connect, lead, and build. Whether it’s through class projects, societies, or launching your own ideas, Strathclyde gives you the platform. It’s up to you to make the most of it!
