Dawn is an international student from Nigeria, he’s currently studying towards his PhD in the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering.

Why did you choose Strathclyde for your postgraduate research study?

I chose to study at Strathclyde due to its renowned faculty, cutting-edge research facilities, and the strong emphasis on practical learning.

The university's vibrant and diverse community also appealed to me, offering an enriching academic and cultural experience.

What do you like about your course?

The industry-relevant emphasis of my research at Strathclyde. The focus on practical application, along with the support of knowledgeable faculty members, has provided me with valuable insights and skills that I believe will be instrumental in my future career.

What has been your favourite thing about studying at Strathclyde?

One of my favourite aspects of studying at Strathclyde is the collaborative learning environment. Engaging with peers and faculty members in meaningful discussions and group projects has enhanced my academic experience and broadened my perspective.

What do you think of Glasgow/Scotland?

Glasgow and Scotland, in general, have exceeded my expectations. The welcoming community, rich cultural heritage, and picturesque landscapes make it an ideal place to study. I have had the opportunity to visit and explore the major cities in Scotland, and each trip has been a memorable experience.

Were there any funding opportunities available to you and if so how did they help?

Yes, I've had several funding opportunities, including scholarships and grants, which greatly eased the financial burden of my studies. These resources allowed me to focus more on my academic pursuits and extracurricular activities. I am an awardee of the Research Excellence Award scheme by the university.

What are your ambitions for the future and how do you think your time at Strathclyde will help you achieve your goals?

 I have been immensely influenced by the research culture at Strathclyde, which solidified my career ambition to be involved in research and development type projects.

The rigorous academic training, exposure to industry trends, and networking opportunities at Strathclyde are instrumental in preparing me for these aspirations. I am confident that the skills and knowledge acquired here will serve as a strong foundation for my future.
