Mathematics & Statistics (BSc Hons)Bowen Jiang

Why did you choose to study at Strathclyde?

To be honest, when the program of SCAU first caught my attention, I was determined to experience the study abroad life. Then I chose mathematics and statistics. Before that, I hadn’t heard about the University of Strathclyde.

What did you think about the University?

A great university. It’s close to the city centre. From library staff to lecture tutors, they all provided the warmest of welcomes and all the support I needed.

Why did you choose to study Mathematics & Statistics (BSc Hons)?

Mathematics and Statistics as an undergraduate course can lead you anywhere in your further academic life, Finance, Computer Science, Data science, and the list can go on and on. Besides, I enjoyed the thinking process of maths questions and the logical deduction from the definition to the conclusion.

What did you like most about Mathematics & Statistics (BSc Hons)?

It was a comprehensive course in regard to basic maths and advanced statistics techniques. But what I like most are the tutors and staff behind the course arrangement.

What did you get out of it?

Besides all the knowledge and a graduation paper, the university staff inspired me in the way they treated everyone with respect and supported each other and the students.

What have you been doing since graduating?

I am doing a master’s degree in Health Data Science at the University of Manchester. Although I enjoy it, Strathclyde has a special place in my mind.

What would you say to anyone considering coming to study at Strathclyde?

Don’t worry too much about the future. Take some time to find out what you want. Enjoy your life at Strathclyde.
