Archifringe 6th -22nd JUNE

Sustainable Twins; a collaborative exhibition by the Department of Architecture 
and The Goethe-Institut Glasgow. 

Students from Years 2 and 5 have worked together in a vertically integrated project to create 4 exhibits that showcase sustainable initiatives in German and Scottish cities, and which respond to the Archifringe Festival overarching theme of Reciprocity. 

The cities, (Aberdeen & Regensburg, Dundee & Würzburg, Edinburgh & Munich, Glasgow & Nuremberg) which have been designated as ‘twins’, were selected by the students following an initial phase of research considering key metrics such as population size, topography, transportation initiatives, prominent industry, sustainable urban projects, UNESCO sustainable development goals and city development plans. A series of criteria was then established to investigate the case study cities through a number of scales: citywide, neighbourhood, street and building. 

This research is presented in four distinct exhibition proposals through a number of creative mediums which showcase best practice in sustainable development and promote partnership and collaborative learning.
