Congratulations to Katrin Djapanova!

Katrin, a current PGR student at Strathclyde, has been selected to participate in the UNESCO World Heritage Young Professionals Forum in Paris.

This prestigious event, the UNESCO World Heritage Young Professionals Forum 2025, will take place from July 1 to July 7. This year’s theme is “World Heritage in an Interconnected World: Leveraging Digital Technologies and Innovative Approaches,” which aligns perfectly with Katrin’s research focused on ports in the context of evolving industrial heritage. Her work emphasises the need to reassess the planning, understanding, and management of port-city urban forms.

Katrin was one of only 25 participants selected globally based on the merit of her submission. UNESCO will cover all travel and accommodation expenses for the event. During the week, participants will engage in workshops, discussions, and presentations centered around technologies and strategies for sustainable evaluation and development, including GIS and LiDAR.
Participants will also have the opportunity to meet with the UNESCO World Heritage Committee and attend the opening of its 47th session.

As part of her participation, Katrin is expected to collaborate with her peers to draft and present a Declaration outlining the future of global heritage.
