The Sir Jules Thorn Centre for the Co-Creation of Rehabilitation TechnologyAbout the project

Since 2021, with initial funding from the Sir Jules Thorn Charitable Trust, we have been inviting people living with disability (movement, communication and cognition) caused by stroke to participate in an eight week, intensive (4 to 8 hrs per week), rehabilitation programme using multiple technologies in a group circuit programme. This participation has allowed us to develop new rehabilitation technology through a cocreation model and a multi-technology solution we call Technology Enriched Rehabilittaion Gym (TERG) which is being evaluated at further sites across Scotland.

Staff:

  • Andy Kerr, Centre Director and Physiotherapist
  • Milena Slachetka, CHSS research Physiotherapist
  • Research assistant (TBC)
  • Madeleine Grealy, Psychology
  • Anja Kuschmann, Speech Therapy

The centre currently also has 6 PhD students from rehabilitation and engineering backgrounds who are developing and exploring the use of technology in rehabilitation. Please Click here for more information.
