How we process your information
We will process identifiable information about you from the details you supply via the ‘alumni and industry engagement’ survey.
Purpose of the processing and legal basis
The University uses your personal data for a variety of reasons and processes it where necessary for its legitimate interests including:
- Assessing your engagement preferences in order to provide you with relevant information
- Sharing your data with staff in the Department in order to provide relevant information
- Where consent is received your personal data will be added to the Department’s newsletter mailing list
Who we will share your data with
We will not share your personal data with third parties.
Retention periods
We will retain your personal information for 1 year after the initial survey. If you consent to receive marketing information i.e. monthly newsletter, we will add your data to our mailing list. We will retain theses details as long as we have valid consent and you have not unsubscribed.
Your Rights
You have the right to access your personal data held by the University. Please contact dataprotection@strath.ac.uk to exercise this right.
You have a number of other rights you are entitled to have personal data rectified if it is inaccurate or incomplete. You can also opt out of marketing at any time. To do this you can click ‘unsubscribe’ on any of the emails we have sent or contact chemeng-ke@strath.ac.uk
Right to complain to supervisory authority
If you have any concerns/issues with the way the University has processed your personal data you can contact the Data Protection Officer at dataprotection@strath.ac.uk. You also have the right to lodge a complaint against the University regarding data protection issues with the Information Commissioner’s Office (https://ico.org.uk/concerns/).
