Tidal turbines experience continuous and intense loads fluctuations on the blades due to turbulence, shear layer, wave current and other causes. The aim of the project is to develop a novel intelligent blade that through a high-frequency shape morphing will alleviate fatigue loads. The resulting blades and turbine will be lighter and less expensive, decreasing the levelised cost of energy.
