Travel Information

The workshop venue, Lodge on Loch Lomond, is situated on the bonny banks of Loch Lomond about 48 km north of Glasgow 

Loch Lomond is one of Scotland's most beautiful and iconic places. It was the inspiration behind an old love song, still traditionally sung at special occasions. The mesmerising loch lies in the heart of the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, surrounded by charming villages, rolling countryside, hills and some truly wonderful activities. 

Glasgow is Scotland's largest city, and is regularly in the Top 10 Places to Visit by The Lonely Planet, among others. It is a vibrant city with a booming underground music scene, architectural haven and growing gourmet retreat. It is also a great stepping stone to visit the rest of Scotland. The city itself is well connected by bus (firstglasgow.com) and subway networks (spt.co.uk), with most (if not all) locations in the downtown area within walking distance.

Air

Glasgow has 3 international airports nearby, with connections across the UK and the world:

  • Glasgow Airport is the closest airport to the city centre. Catch the express bus service from outside the terminal and arrive in Glasgow in around 15 minutes. Visit glasgowairport.com for more information.
  • Glasgow Prestwick Airport is 51 km from Glasgow. It is very accessible with train and bus services to the city centre. Find out more at glasgowprestwick.com.
  • Edinburgh Airport is 63 km from Glasgow. There is a direct bus service from the airport to Glasgow’s Buchanan Bus Station which takes around 1 hour. Head to edinburghairport.com for more information.

Train

Glasgow is well connected by train from across the UK by 2 main stations:

  • Glasgow Central Station links Glasgow to the south
  • Glasgow Queen Street Station operates routes mainly to Edinburgh and the north

Glasgow Airport – Lodge on Loch Lomond, Luss (by car)

The distance between the Glasgow International Airport and The Lodge on Loch Lomond, Luss is approximately 25 miles, and by car it takes about 35 min.

Glasgow Airport – Lodge on Loch Lomond, Luss (by Uber)

One-way trip from Glasgow Airport to the Lodge costs about £45, and, depending on the luggage size, each car can be shared by up to 3 passengers. In this option, the payment should be made by one of the passengers, however the Uber App allows cost sharing, providing all have an Uber account. Glasgow/Edinburgh – Luss (by bus)

City Link Scotland has bus links available from Glasgow City Centre/Glasgow Airport/Edinburgh Airport to Luss:

  • From Buchanan Bus Station (in Glasgow City Centre), the bus takes around 1 hour and costs approximately £10.
  • From Glasgow Airport, the bus takes around 40 min and costs approximately £10.
  • From Edinburgh Airport, the bus takes around 2.5 hours and costs approximately £25 (typically with a change in Glasgow Buchanan Station).

From the centre of Luss to the Lodge is less than a 10 min walk (2 min drive).

Immigration Visas

Most countries do not need a visa to travel to the UK for less than 6 months to the UK, however please check the UK Government Visas & Immigration website to find up-to-date information on UK entry visas. If you require a signed letter of invitation, please contact the organising committee.
