David is a Knowledge Exchange Fellow at the Centre for Energy Policy, where he focuses on strengthening the impact of the Centre’s research, and delivering research-based consultancy on the energy transition.
With nearly two decades’ experience as a researcher and project manager, he has delivered work for government, industry, and third-sector foundations across the UK and Europe. A leading practitioner of Theory of Change, David has applied the approach in over 20 projects and is co-editor of Strategic Thinking, Design and the Theory of Change (Edward Elgar, 2023).
His key research interest is justice in the energy transition, having led two Scottish Government projects developing the Theory of Change for the Just Transition in Scotland. He is also experienced in measuring impact, designing data visualisations, and building effective cross-sector partnerships.
David holds a PhD on the dynamics of international research partnerships.
