Chinese Bridge Masterclasses

An exciting project run in collaboration with East China Normal University for pupils, redesigned for pupils to access any time and anywhere.

Just before Christmas CISS was offered the opportunity to partner on an exciting project with East China Normal University in Shanghai. After a successful partnership on the Virtual Exchange Teacher programme, we are thrilled to be working with this university again on the Chinese Bridge Masterclass, a programme planned specifically for Scottish pupils. Designed for beginners, it aims to enhance the pupils’ understanding of China, Chinese language and culture.

This free programme kicks off on Monday the 18th of January and will run for 10 weeks covering a wide variety of cultural topics, such as, cuisine, martial arts, folk dance and Chinese gardens. Given the recent school closures, our partners at East China Normal University have worked tirelessly with CISS to redesign the programme and pre-record all the lessons enabling the young people to easily access all the resources from home.

There are eight schools across the country taking part in the programme and we are looking forward to hearing from schools as the programme progresses. Keep your eyes posted for examples of pupil work on our social media channels.
