Love in later life reading groups

What will we do?

In these weekly sessions, we hope the reading of poetry and fiction will help stimulate new thinking, and lively conversation on the various forms of love to be found in later life.

Facilitator Sukhema (from Autumn Voices) will lead a guided conversation on the ways in which reading poetry and fiction can help us re-evaluate how we think about love, especially how it is experienced in later life. We will read poetry, fiction and memoir, using a range of texts as a springboard to discussions on the many different enactments of love as we grow older. Participants in the reading group will be invited to use this writing to open themselves up to new perspectives to help us all consider the fact love is, or can be, central to the experience of growing older.

Where and When?

The sessions will be available online. Sessions will start in late September.

What will we read?

Texts for the session will be confirmed soon but will be different from the texts we read in the Creative Writing workshops. Therefore, participants from those workshops are very welcome to attend the Reading Groups.

The participants in the group will help select the material we read in the final sessions. Each session will also begin with the consideration of a poem on later life.

How to sign up?

Places will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please only sign up if you are available to attend all sessions.

Register your place by emailing us with the subject header "Reading Group".
