Love in later life reading groups

What will we do?

In these weekly sessions, we hope the reading of poetry and fiction will help stimulate new thinking, and lively conversation on the various forms of love to be found in later life.

Facilitators Andrew Meehan (Glasgow, in-person) and Sukhema (online) will lead a guided conversation on the ways in which reading poetry and fiction can help us re-evaluate how we think about love, especially how it is experienced in later life. We will read poetry, fiction and memoir, using a range of texts as a springboard to discussions on the many different enactments of love as we grow older. Participants in the reading group will be invited to use this writing to open themselves up to new perspectives to help us all consider the fact love is, or can be, central to the experience of growing older.
