Dr Andriychuk presents at UK Competition and Markets Authority roundtable relating to online platforms and digital advertising

On Tuesday 22 September 2020 the UK Competition and Markets Authority hosted a roundtable on the topic of the recent "Online Platforms and Digital Advertising" market study, which was published by the CMA in July this year. Digital advertising is a rapidly growing and dynamic market, generating billions in annual revenues and having a decisive impact on shaping of viewers' digital habits. The study addresses the dominance of the two biggest online platforms in the UK online advertising markets and suggests a number of innovative and forward-looking remedies aiming to mitigate eventual market failures.

Our colleague, Oles Andriychuk, Senior Lecturer, co-director of the Strathclyde Centre for Internet Law and Policy and a member of Strathclyde Centre for Antitrust and Empirical Study was invited to present his views on the academic and international aspects of this influential study. He did this alongside Simeon Thornton, the director and coordinator of the CMA study, and Jane Morrison-Ross from ScotlandIS. Together they spoke about implications for the tech sector. The event was well-attended by regulators, advertisers, publishers, members of academic community and students.
