EU regulation of AI deepfakes – commentary from our Guido Noto La Diega
AI deepfakes, using chatbot Grok to remove women's clothes, are still being posted across Elon Musk's social media site X (formerly Twitter), with some images produced appearing to be of minors, which could constitute child sexual abuse material. But what does EU law say about posted illicit AI content? The EUobserver quoted our Professor Guido Noto La Diega, who advised on the illegality of the AI ‘nudification’ features that predictably sexualises minors, clarifying that under EU Law online platforms such as X can be ordered to change the feature or switch it off entirely, or else rather large fines are likely to follow.
