Event on approaches to use of public assets in Scotland and Japan on 9 September
On 9 September 2025, a visiting researcher from Japan will deliver a seminar entitled, “Legal and Policy Approaches to the Use of Public Assets in Scotland and Japan”.
For the past few months, Kume Hideyo (an Associate Professor at Chubu University, Japan) has been based at the University of Strathclyde. She is a socio-legal property scholar and is studying community rights of acquisition in Scotland.
She will give a presentation on the legal frameworks governing the use of public assets in Scotland and Japan, with particular attention to the mechanisms that enable community involvement. There will also be a consideration of how to achieve an appropriate legal balance to ensure the sustainable operation of such initiatives.
This is a free, on-campus event, taking place at 12 noon on Tuesday 9 September in TL329. You can book your place (and read more about the seminar) on Eventbrite.
