Events on 28 November on climate change and state obligations plus Prof Sindico’s inaugural lecture

On Thursday 28 November 2024 two related events about climate change and the law will take place at the University of Strathclyde.

The first event, hosted by the Climate Change Legal Initiative and the University of Strathclyde Law School, will consider the International Court of Justice Advisory Opinion on Climate Change State Obligations in the light of trends of climate change litigation. This event also serves as the Glasgow launch of the book Research Handbook of Climate Change Litigation which is edited by the four speakers: Francesco Sindico, Kate McKenzie, Gastón Medici-Colombo and Lennart Wegener. The book presents climate change litigation as a journey and during proceedings at the event participants will have the opportunity to discuss the implications of framing the ICJ Advisory Opinion through the “journey” lens.

This event will take place on Thursday 28 November, from 14.00-15.30, you can register for this afternoon event through Eventbrite

Later that day, Professor Sindico will discuss the future of international climate change law and the related role of national and international litigation in his inaugural professorial lecture. You can register for this evening event through Eventbrite.
