Law School MPhil student Liam Moorhouse recently attended a summer school on Human Rights and Artificial Intelligence, hosted by the Global Digital Human Rights Network. The summer school, held in Estonia, ran for three days in the first week of July. Leading academics gave lectures exploring the role of human rights in a world increasingly shaped by AI. Topics covered focused on the changing landscape of legal regulation in the face of AI, trust-based approaches to AI, AI judges, and the role of ‘explainable’ AI.
Liam’s MPhil dissertation examines the commercialisation of biometric and health data. His research explores how companies use health apps to monetise users' data, and how intercultural theories of privacy can provide inspiration for law reform.
