Prof Cyrus Tata to Advise Sentencing Policy Review

The Law School’s Professor of Law & Criminal Justice, Dr Cyrus Tata, is to be appointed as Academic Adviser to the official Review of Sentencing Policy being conducted in Northern Ireland. The Review, which is expected to last 18 months, will examine ways of improving the sentencing framework. 

Professor Tata was invited to advise the Review because of his international reputation as a leading expert on sentencing research and penal policy.

 

 

Commenting on his appointment, Prof Tata said:

“I’m delighted to have been asked to advise this official Review of Sentencing Policy. There is considerable international evidence on sentencing and wider justice policy, which may be useful to the Review as it strives to improve sentencing for all.”

Prof Cyrus Tata is also Director of the Law School’s Centre for Law, Crime & Justice and also leads the highly regarded Master’s Programme in  Criminal Justice & Penal Change
