The Strathclyde Postgraduate Law Conference 2025 is seeking abstract submissions on the theme of Law in Context: Exploring Interdisciplinary Perspectives. Postgraduate students and early-career researchers wishing to present their work at the conference are invited to submit abstracts to pgrlaw-conf@strath.ac.uk by the 31st March 2025. The conference will take place from 29th-30th May 2025 in Glasgow and online.
Law does not exist in isolation. In an increasingly interconnected and complex world, legal scholarship must expand to address multifaceted challenges with innovative perspectives and solutions. Rapid technological advancements, environmental crises, shifting social dynamics, economic pressures, and civil unrest demonstrate a need for approaches that go beyond traditional legal frameworks. Understanding law within these broader contexts is essential to the development of more effective, equitable, and just legal systems.
By focusing on intersections with other disciplines, the Law in Context conference provides a platform for postgraduate researchers to explore law as an interdisciplinary field. We invite participants to examine law as it interacts with diverse fields such as technology, the environment, sociology, economics, and public policy. It also seeks to promote innovative methodologies from other disciplines, complementing traditional legal approaches and promoting fresh perspectives to address complex global challenges. Thematically appropriate theoretical or doctrinal works are also welcome.
