undertaken by over 1,500 local people

In July/August 2002 the much needed repair of the water supply to Livingstonia in Northern Malawi was undertaken by over 1,500 local people with technical assistance from the Malawi Millennium Team. This water supply is the only source of potable water for the entire town including the schools, technical college and the hospital. The work involved removing debris, repairing sections damaged by landslides, stabilising landslides by constructing walls and planting special deep rooted grasses along the slopes above the water supply route.

The project was funded by special donations to the Malawi Millennium Project and the work supervised on-site by the Raven Trust.
