Microsoft Power Automate is a component of the Microsoft Power Platform. It is a tool that helps users create workflows between applications, both Microsoft and non-Microsoft, to synchronize files, get notifications, and collect data.
This cloud-based solution uses sequentially connected triggers and actions to create a workflow, so that repetitive, manual, and time-consuming tasks are accomplished with minimal or no human intervention.
For example:
- set up a Microsoft Form to collect data
- when the respondent presses the Submit button, the Power Automate flow is triggered
- the flow takes data from the Form and uses it to populate a SharePoint list
- the flow then sends the respondent an email notification
