Gender-Based Violence IT helpHow to take a screenshot

While you might want to remove something posted online that is distressing, take a screenshot first. This can be used as evidence in any report you make.

If you want to contact the police, do so BEFORE deleting anything.

Capture all the information you need

While taking a screenshot, make sure it shows:

  • their username
  • the date
  • the time
  • full web address if possible

Ensure image quality

Once you have taken the screenshot, save it as a file. You do not want to lose it if you just copy it to the clipboard.

If you are sending the screenshot by email, attach it as copy. Do not paste it into the body of the email. This can reduce the image quality and make it different to read clearly.
