Replacement Parchment FAQ's

What information will be on the replacement parchment?

The replacement certificate will be produced in the current University style and will state “(Duplicate) Reprinted on ….”. It will include your name, programme of study, classification and award date. If you require a breakdown of your subjects and marks please request a transcript via our Online Shop.

How long does it take to produce a replacement certificate?

We aim to produce replacement certificates within 10 working days. However, during busy times such as enrolment, exams and graduation we cannot guarantee that your certificate will be produced within this time frame. We therefore recommend that you allow approximately 20 working days for delivery. If the information requested relates to a certificate awarded prior to 1984 this will take considerably longer to produce as we will need to obtain records from our Archives department. In these cases please allow approximately 30 working days for delivery.

I successfully completed two (or more) degrees at the University of Strathclyde and I need replacement certificates for each one. Do I have to make separate requests?

Yes, you will need to make a separate request for each one and the same cost will apply to each request.

What if I need more than one copy of my certificate?

Only one copy of your parchment (certificate) may be in existence at any given time. We are therefore unable to provide additional copies. You may however request transcripts via our Online Shop.

I never received my original certificate – what should I do?

If you have already graduated and you attended graduation you will have been presented with your certificate at the ceremony. If you did not attend your ceremony, or your programme was not included in a graduation ceremony, your certificate will have been sent to the home address on your student record.

Certificates to UK addresses are sent by Royal Mail standard delivery and usually arrive within 5 working days. Certificates sent to non-UK addresses by Royal Mail can take considerably longer, depending on local postal services, and we therefore recommend allowing approximately 20 working days for delivery.

If after two months you have still not received your certificate, please email graduation-enquiries@strath.ac.uk with your full name, date of birth, your student registration number (if you still have it), and the address you would like your certificate sent to. We will check if your certificate has been returned to us and resend it if it has.

If it has been over six months since you completed your programme and you have not contacted us about your certificate in that time you must request and pay for a replacement certificate via our Online Shop.
