Collaborative Research Cultures

About the Collaborative Research and Innovation Cultures Programme

The Cultures of Collaboration in a Socially Progressive Technological University (‘Collaborative Cultures’) Programme is a ~£1M 2-year Wellcome Trust-funded research programme at the University of Strathclyde focused on enhancing collaborative research & innovation culture. It addresses two key challenges:

  1. Co-producing inclusive research and innovation cultures with industry, public and third-sector partners.
  2. Valuing and recognising the everyday contributions which sustain thriving collaborative research and innovation cultures.

By recognising that research cultures extend beyond universities, the programme explores new approaches to building more collaborative, connected and sustainable research communities.

Our key goals include:

  • Delivering interventions to test levers that enable inclusive cultures of collaboration in cross-sector research environments.
  • Developing data and guidance to better understand cultures of collaboration.
  • Producing resources that address how we can recognise and value the ‘invisible’ labour required to produce highly innovative and collaborative research cultures.

Based at the University of Strathclyde as a leading socially-progressive technological university, the programme draws on our extensive network of strategic partners (covering industry, the public and third sector, and a global network of universities) as well as the diverse expertise within our institutional research and innovation community. Building on this, it aims to create new knowledge, resources and opportunities for the research and innovation community at Strathclyde, as well as the broader Higher Education sector.
