XI Strathclyde Postgraduate Colloquium on Environmental Law and Governance (15 June 2023)

Thursday, 15 June 2023 10-16:30 UK time CW404a&b

University of Strathclyde Law School & Strathclyde Centre for Environmental Law & Governance

This Colloquium provides an opportunity for Post Docs, Ph.D., MPhil and LLM students engaged in research global environmental law and governance to present and discuss their work, or a part of it, in a supportive atmosphere. It also provides an opportunity for students researching environmental law (who may not be presenting) to meet and network with other peers and experts working in this area of law.

The 2023 Colloquium builds on the success of the previous ten colloquia, which saw researchers from a wide range of countries, present their research on topical areas of environmental law and governance. Leading environmental law academics acted as discussants, proving the researchers with insightful comments and feedback. In the 2023 edition, after regaining post-Covid normality, we will again follow this format. The Colloquium will be held as a hybrid event on Thursday, 15 June 2023.

Accepted presentations will be divided into thematic sessions chaired by a member of the Strathclyde Centre for Environmental Law and Governance. Each presentation will last 15 minutes followed by ample time for debate introduced by comments from the discussant.

Presentations covering any topic of global environmental law and governance will be welcome. However, given the rising attention that scholarship is paying to legal developments such as allocating legal personality and rights to non-humans, ecosystems, and Nature at large, we particularly welcome contributions in this area.

Please submit an abstract of no more than 250 words to scelg@strath.ac.uk by 1 March 2023. Successful applicants will be informed by 01 April 2021.

Date and Time: Wednesday 15 June 2023

Programme: A detailed programme with selected speakers and discussants will be published in April.
