Marine Genetic Resources in Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction
BeneLex will organize a workshop "Marine Genetic Resources in Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction", at New York University Law School
On 27 August 2016, BeneLex organised a workshop Marine Genetic Resources in Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction, at New York University Law School, in collaboration with IUCN and PHARMASEA. It explored how an implementing agreement on the governance of marine biodiversity beyond national jurisdiction may foster equitable and effective research and development and sustainable use of marine genetic resources in developing and developed countries.
BeneLex's principal investigator, Elisa Morgera, presented research findings on marine technology transfer, and BeneLex's researcher Elsa Tsioumani reflected on lessons learnt from multilateral benefit-sharing under the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture.
