David Kinloch's poetry often tackles issues relating to sexual orientation and gender. His latest work in this area is a short sequence of poems entitled Some Women (Happenstance, 2014) which gives the women of The Bible voices of their own. Other relevant collections include:
- Un Tour d'Ecosse (Carcanet, 2005)
- Paris-Forfar (Polygon, 1994)
David is currently working on another book of poems that responds to visual art created by American LGBT artists and a critical study of the poet, Edwin Morgan.
