Strathclyde legal scholars are helping shape law and policy at both national and international levels. Examples include:
- Professor Katie Boyle’s research on models of human rights incorporation and access to justice directly informed the Scottish Government’s Human Rights Bill.
- Dr Lynsey Mitchell contributes to national law reform as a member of the Scottish Government’s Abortion Law Review Expert Group, shaping conversations on reproductive rights.
- Professor Francesco Sindico was seconded to the Scottish Government (2021–24) where he led the Carbon Neutral Islands project. He is also Director of the Climate Change Legal Initiative (C2LI), a social enterprise committed to strengthening expertise in law to drive just and transformational climate action.
- Dr Elaine Webster’s work around dignity helped to inform the development of the Scottish Human Rights Bill and influenced government policy and consultation exercises.
- Dr Adelyn Wilson’s research into parliamentary procedure and legislative scrutiny has informed the work of the Scottish and UK Parliaments.
