Personal statement

I am the director of the MSc Investment and Finance, one of the largest MSc Programmes of Strathclyde Business School, with graduates placed with leading employers (e.g. Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, BlackRock, PwC etc.). 

I am a member of the Research Panel of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) which has more than 21,000 CAs as members worldwide. In addition, I am actively engaging with industry in various roles such as consulting and R&D. 

My research interests are Corporate Finance, Corporate Governance, Political Economy & Regulatory Frameworks, and Social responsibility (CSR/ESG) and Sustainability. I am ranked in the top 10% of Authors on SSRN by all-time downloads and my research is published in peer reviewed journals such as the Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Empirical Finance, and the European Journal of Finance among others.  I have been a visiting lecturer at Cass Business School, ESCP Europe, and SKEMA Business School. Since 2012 my research and external engagements have generated approximately £250,000. In addition, I am an Associate Editor for The European Journal of Finance. I have also been an Associate (Guest) Editor for the International Review of Financial Analysis and the Journal of Operational Research Society. Also, I have been a Scientific Committee member for several conferences. I serve as research assessor for the Carnegie Trust and as a regular ad-hoc reviewer for a number of scientific journals.

I welcome new PhD proposals to be developed under my supervision in the field of Corporate Finance and Corporate Governance.

Research and Consultancy grant (£2,700) from BiP Solutions on procurement and accreditation for the University of Jamaica's training centre. The project is funded by the World Bank and commenced in June 2017.
