Personal statement

I joined the University of Strathclyde in October 2012 as a Manufacturing Engineer in the sheet forming team at the AFRC after spending 15 years in industry.  Over the following two years I was leading and co-ordinating the installation and commissioning of several pieces of equipment for the centre.  These include a 100 tonne press brake, a 350 tonne multi-forge, some unique heating and cooling technology, a wet blast unit and an overhead crane.   All of these installations have enhanced the capability of the centre.  These machines are used in conjunction with others to perform forging and forming research at the centre.

last year I was working on research projects related to material formability, these include investigating the formability of an aluminium alloy, looking at characterisation of the heating and cooling technology to heat and cool titanium sheet. 

More recently i've been leading a large hydroforming project investigating the formability of an aerospace sheet material.  This project has allowed hydroforming as a technology to be challenged, resulting in the determination of the capabilities of this technology and it's application to very complex parts.
