- Maths Week Scotland Event at the University of Strathclyde 2024
- Devlin, Jon (Principal Investigator)
- A grant-funded event at the University of Strathclyde that took place on 25 September 2022 during Maths Week Scotland for 77 pupils and 11 teachers from 11 high schools. This was organised and run by Dr Jon Devlin from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. The event involved a campus tour for all participants, two mathematics workshops delivered by Dr Jon Devlin, and a talk on important black and female mathematicians throughout history, also given by Dr Jon Devlin. The grant of £2600 was awarded by the Maths Week Scotland Large Grant Fund and went towards the transport costs for schools, lunches for all participants, maths-themed resource packs for all pupils and teachers, and payment of four Student Ambassadors who ran the campus tours.
- 21-Jan-2024 - 31-Jan-2024
- Allan Glen's Tutoring Programme 2024
- Devlin, Jon (Principal Investigator)
- The Allan Glen's Tutoring Programme involves mathematics undergraduate students travelling to Glasgow high schools once a week to tutor pupils in Higher Maths. The pupils were identified by their school as being interested in studying a science degree at university but struggling to achieve their Higher Maths condition. The programme is funded by the Allan Glen's School Club and ran in 2023 with 15 tutors providing tuition to 45 students from three schools. In 2023-24, the programme ran again with 15 tutors offering tuition to 45 pupils from three schools (5 tutors per school tutoring 3 pupils each) from 5 February to 29 March 2024. The Allan Glen's School Club awarded the programme a grant of £3023, providing a bursary of £200 for each tutor and covered travel expenses of £23 for one tutor. (The other tutors were under 22 and had free bus travel.)

- Allan Glen's Tutoring Programme 2023
- Devlin, Jon (Principal Investigator)
- The Allan Glen's Tutoring Programme involves mathematics undergraduate students travelling to Glasgow high schools once a week to tutor pupils in Higher Maths. The pupils were identified by their school as being interested in studying a science degree at university but struggling to achieve their Higher Maths condition. The tutoring programme started in 2019 with 6 tutors and one school, and funding by the Allan Glen's School Club enabled the programme to continue in 2020 with 8 tutors at one school. In 2023, I expanded the programme to three Glasgow schools, all of which have a high proportion of SIMD0-40 pupils. The expansion saw 15 tutors offering tuition to 45 pupils from three schools (5 tutors per school tutoring 3 pupils each) from 6 February to 31 March 2023. The Allan Glen's School Club awarded the programme a grant of £3189.90, providing a bursary of £200 for each tutor and covered travel expenses of £189.90 for two tutors. (The other tutors were under 22 and had free bus travel.)
- 06-Jan-2023 - 31-Jan-2023
- Maths Week Scotland Inter-Authority Maths Conference 2022
- Devlin, Jon (Principal Investigator)
- A grant-funded Inter-Authority Maths Conference that took place on 28 September 2022 during Maths Week Scotland for approximately 90 pupils from 9 high schools. This was jointly organised and run by Dr Jon Devlin from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics and the Head of Maths from Our Lady's High School, North Lanarkshire. The conference involved the pupils taking part in mathematical team-building activities, listening to a talk by Emeritus Professor Adam McBride, and participating in two mathematics workshops delivered by Dr Jon Devlin. The grant of £2400 was awarded by the Maths Week Scotland Large Grant Fund and went towards the transport costs for schools, lunches for all participants, maths-themed resource packs for all pupils, speaker fees for Prof Adam McBride, and the purchase of new outreach materials for Dr Jon Devlin's workshops.
