Dr. Hosam Elrakayby holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and possesses a deep track record in industrial-based research projects. Dr. Elrakayby is the Interim Near Net Shape Team Lead at the Advanced Forming Research Centre (AFRC), part of the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS), where he leads a team of 13 engineers in developing next-generation manufacturing solutions. With over a decade of expertise in advanced sheet metal forming—including superplastic forming (SPF), hydroforming, and incremental processes—he has a proven track record of bridging the gap between fundamental research and industrial application, working to optimise and de-risk these manufacturing routes so customers can invest confidently in making them more cost-effective, economically viable, and time-efficient.
