Personal statement

Robert is a currently a Doctoral Researcher (PGR) in Accounting and Finance at Strathclyde Business School, University of Strathclyde, funded via a Global Research Scholarship. His research interests include financial reporting, accounting disclosure, corporate misconduct and it spillover effects, corporate governance, corporate finance, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues. His current work lies at the intersection of accounting, finance, and issues in labour economics and public health.

Prior to commencing his Doctoral studies in October 2021, Robert obtained a First Class Bachelor of Accounting with Honours degree (BAcc Hons) and an MSc degree in International Accounting and Finance from the University of Strathclyde (with Distinction as well as being the top performing student in the entire MSc programme). Moreover, Robert also earned a PG Cert in Research Methodology from the University of Strathclyde during his Doctoral studies.

Alongside his PhD research, Robert has been actively involved in teaching within the Department of Accounting and Finance in his role as a Tutor. His extensive teaching experience includes undergraduate, postgraduate MSc, MBA, and Executive MBA education levels. He has tutored a variety of modules since September 2022, including AG111 Accounting Technologies, AG218 Intermediate Financial Reporting, AG310 Contemporary Management Accounting, AG910/AG989 Principles of Finance, AG985 Topics in Corporate Finance, AG990 Accounting for Financial Analysis, AG993 Advanced Corporate Finance and Applications, MG929 Finance and Financial Management, and MB940 Accounting and Financial Management. In August 2025, Robert became an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA), reflecting his commitment to excellence in teaching.
