Personal statement

I joined the Strathclyde Sleep Centre, with the Department of Psychological Science and Health at the University of Strathclyde, in February 2025. I am currently working on two projects:

  1. The INVEST Trial - investigating early intervention with sleep restriction therapy in people recently diagnosed with breast cancer who are living with acute insomnia.
  2. Co-developing a Neurodivergent-affirming sleep intervention for individuals with autism and/or ADHD. This project is in collaboration with the Centre for Autism Research in Education at Strathclyde (CARE@S).

Prior to this, I completed my PhD in Psychology at the University of Glasgow, focusing on insomnia after stroke. I sought to answer four key questions relating to the condition: (1) what is the impact and experience of insomia after stroke?; (2) what are the preferences and experiences of stroke survivors with regards to the treatment of insomnia after stroke?; (3) how best can we accurately identify stroke survivors living with insomnia?; and (4) how best can we go about treating post-stroke insomnia?.
