Personal statement
Fiona is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a BALEAP assessor with extensive international experience in higher education, English for Academic Purposes (EAP), TESOL, and teacher education. She has designed and delivered programmes of study across a broad range of disciplines in China, Italy, Greece, and the UK. Her work has included TESOL and Teacher Education programmes for the Italian Ministry of Education, Advanced English for Journalism courses for the Norwegian Institute of Journalism, and Academic Practice sessions for the Organisational and Staff Development Unit at the University of Strathclyde. She also served as Module Co-ordinator at the University of Fuzhou, China, as part of an innovative partnership programme with the University of Hertfordshire.
In her current role, Fiona designs and delivers a wide range of cross-Faculty EAP, ESP, Academic Practice, and TESOL/Teacher Education courses, supporting students and professionals from diverse academic and disciplinary backgrounds.
Fiona has a strong commitment to continuing professional development and academic scholarship. She holds an MSc in Higher Education, an MEd in TESOL, a Bachelor of Education, and a DELTA qualification. She has presented and facilitated for audiences ranging from local professional development events to international conferences, including keynote presentations. Fiona is currently undertaking a Doctorate in Education.
