Personal statement

I am a Research Associate in the Stratchclyde Software Defined Radio (StrathSDR) laboratory at the University of Strathclyde. My research is focused on efficient utilisation of the radio spectrum - the radio waves that make wireless communication possible.

I have recently succefully completed the task of leading research in the spectrum sensing workstream of the £12m future open and resilient networks research project called Towards Ubiquitous 3-Dimensional Open Resilient Network (TUDOR) led by University of Surrey's 5G/6G Innovation Centre.

I was awarded a postgraduate certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Edication and Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) in September 2024. I have been a Teaching Assistant since 2016 on an undergraduate course - Digital Electronics - where I am involved in tutoring, lab demonstrations and assessing students.

I have recently had international teaching experience at the Shanghai University of Electric Power where I delivered teaching, tutorials, exam setting and marking on the module Computer Architecture.

In my previous life, I worked as a telecommunications officer with the United Nations in Malawi, where I was involved in managing telecommunications/IT infrastructure and technology-for-development projects. It was through this work experience that my interest in research on technologies for affordable wireless connectivity was ignited.

Qualifications

I received my PhD in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from University of Strathclyde in 2022. My PhD thesis was on modelling of heterogeneous wireless coexistence in shared spectrum using hypergraph theory. I also received my MSc (Eng) in Digital Communications Networks from University of Leeds BSc in 2015.
