Personal statement

My research interests lie at the intersection of chemical engineering and microbiology, focusing on fermentation process development to facilitate more sustainable manufacturing routes. This includes research into fermentation intensification to increase the process productivity and efficiency, and using process design to overcome microbial limitations such as toxicity and inhibitions. My experience includes the development of continuous fermentation processes, novel bioreactor design, utilisation of waste or industry side-streams for fermentation, integrated bioprocesses including in situ product recovery.
