Personal statement

I am a lecturer specialising in applied Computational Fluid Dynamics. My work focuses on the numerical modelling (virtual re-creation) of fluid flow around ships. In particular, I am interested in scale effects which cause discrepancies in performance between a model and prototype vessel, as well as shallow water effects on ship hydrodynamics. But I am also active in other sub-disciplines, such as discretisation uncertainty estimation, ship aero-hydrodynamics, and the more practical aspects of turbulence modelling. More recently I have began working on computational flow modeling for biomedical applications, including continuous manufacture of medicines, and nasal cavity flow and particle deposition studies. Alongside my research, I co-deliver joint teaching activities at Harbin Institute of Technology, Weihai, China.
