Strathclyde SportWellbeing Week

Throughout this week, staff and students alike can participate in a vast programme of free activities designed to improve their sense of wellbeing.  Occupational Health, Safety and Wellbeing work in partnership with Strathclyde Sport’s Health and Fitness team, the Sports Union and other partners to deliver this popular week that features campus walks, massage, weightlifting workshops and more.

This year, for the first time, professional Rugby Union players from the Glasgow Warriors and netball players from the Strathclyde Sirens, both officially sponsored by the University of Strathclyde, will be taking part in Wellbeing Week.

You will be able to meet and greet Warriors players at the Wellbeing Week launch event on Monday 18 March from 1pm-2pm in the Collins Building in the Insight Institute.  Players will also be involved in an informal ‘come and try’ Touch Rugby session on Tuesday 19 March, 1pm-2pm.  This session will be run by Strathclyde Sport’s Director of Rugby, Gary Strain.  Places are limited so be sure to book.  There will be some Glasgow Warriors match tickets up for grabs at this session.

Likewise, University of Strathclyde Sirens hospitality tickets to a matches at the Emirates Arena will be up for grabs at their fun ‘come and try’ Netball session on Wednesday 20 March from 12 noon until 1pm.

Seona McKenzie, Health and Fitness Manager at Strathclyde Sport said:

“We are delighted that the Glasgow Warriors and the University of Strathclyde Sirens are supporting Wellbeing Week.  Wellbeing Week is an important week in the University calendar as it encourages staff and students to try new activities, which can be the motivation they need to form new healthier habits, positively impacting their lifestyles and ultimately their health and wellbeing.”
