Scottish Apprenticeship Week Blog Aidan McIntyre

Aidan McIntyre - GE Aerospace

Having served as a Modern Apprenticeship in Engineering with GE Aerospace, I quickly understood the value of work based learning and how positively this can impact your career by enhancing your skills within your current role whilst preparing you for future progression opportunities.

I chose to study the Business Management Graduate Apprenticeship as the modules would provide me with the underpinning academic knowledge to support the roles and responsibilities in my current role within GE Aerospace. I have loved being back to full time education to challenge myself and build on the foundations previously laid throughout my Modern Apprenticeship and career there since. The course structure at Strathclyde allows me to easily balance my studies alongside my fulltime job and life as a dad of two boys under two.

What I have particularly enjoyed is sharing knowledge and experiences with my diverse classmates and learning from them. There are a variety of organisations and industries which allows me to understand more about how the wider business world operates in comparison to GE Aerospace.

I would strongly recommend all aspiring students and apprenticeship delivering employers to make full use of all the incredible knowledge and opportunities within the University of Strathclyde. They say it is the place of useful learning and so far and I most certainly agree.
