GraduationAccessing your digital certificate

Students who have graduated from 2020 onwards can access their digital certificates from our Student Verification Portal. You can view your digital certificate and share it with employers/third parties for verification. You can also print a copy until you receive your hard copy degree parchment.

Before you start please watch the short video below and read the FAQ’s provided to help you through the process. You'll need your personal email address that you enrolled to graduate with and your student registration number (for example, 202012345)

Please note – you must have graduated before you can access your certificate, unless your award is non-graduateable, for example, Postgraduate Certificate. Registering for the student verification portal is not enrolment for graduation. Please visit the Graduation pages for information and enrolment for graduations.

To begin your digital certificate journey, click on the ‘Access your digital certificate’ button.

FAQs

You must use the email address that you registered to graduate with. This must be a personal email address so that you can continue to receive notifications from the portal once you no longer have access to your university email. If you use your Strath email or a different personal email address than the one you registered to graduate with this will delay your access to the system as your registration must be checked and approved. If you can’t remember the personal email address you used you can contact graduation-enquiries@strath.ac.uk

Please check your email spam and/or junk folders as your email provider may not have recognised the sender as a safe sender and re-directed it from your inbox. If after checking your spam and junk folders you still have not received your confirmation email please contact graduation-enquiries@strath.ac.uk providing your name, date of birth and registration number.

During the registration process your information is matched with the information held by the University for you. If any part of the information provided does not match, your account registration must be checked and approved by the University. This could take up to 2 working days at busy times. Once the account has been checked your account will be released and you will be able to log in. Please contact graduation-enquiries@strath.ac.uk providing your name, date of birth and registration number if you are still unable to gain access 2 working days after initially registering.

We are sorry but we are still working on improving the sign in process for people whose name is only in one field. To complete the registration for the portal please put a full stop ‘.’ in the blank name field and this will let you complete your registration. After your email has been confirmed and you attempt to log in the first time you will receive a message saying your account must be approved. Your registration must be checked and approved by the University to release your log in. This could take up to 2 working days at busy times. Once the account has been checked your account will be released and you will be able to log in. Some browsers do not render the certificates as well as others. Your certificate may not display correctly in older versions of Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer. We would recommend re-trying using a different browser such as Chrome or Firefox. If your certificate still does not load correctly then use the ‘Report’ function (yellow button) in the view documents section of the student verification portal and describe the problem. This will send a message to the Admin team and can be checked for you.

The Student Verification Portal allows you to access and view your certificate. You can download and print a copy from the preview screen. However, this is an unverified copy and will be watermarked. The QR code can be used to confirm the details on the certificate match the details in the system. You will receive a verified hard copy from the University when it is safe and appropriate for staff to return to University buildings and further information will be sent to you using the contact email address that you provided for graduation enrolment. If you wish to change this you can log back into your graduation enrolment https://graduations.strath.ac.uk/ or contact graduation-enquiries@strath.ac.uk.

See Connections on the dashboard.

See Connections on the dashboard to start. You will be asked how long you wish to allow access for. After this date Third parties will no longer be able to access your information.

No - Updating your contact details in the student verification portal will NOT update the core University contact details for you. Coming soon – Currently, only students who graduate from the July 2020 congregation onwards will be able to access their parchment online. We are in the process of transferring some of our previous graduation records in to the digital format.  Not all records will be in an appropriate format for digital parchments. Previous students can check whether they may be eligible for access and make a request to register by contacting graduation-enquiries@strath.ac.uk. Please include your full name, date of birth, registration number (if known), year of graduation and award achieved in the enquiry.

Transcripts are not available on the Student Verification Portal yet. If required, you can apply to have a pdf copy of your transcript emailed to you. You should submit your request to transcripts@strath.ac.uk. Please note that this could take up to 28 days due to the anticipated volume of requests. You will be issued a hard copy of your transcript with your hard copy parchment once this is able to be produced.

Third parties can register for our verification portal. Once registered you can request to create a ‘Connection’ with a portal user. If the user approves your request you will be able to view their documents for a limited time. Alternatively, you can request that a user invites you to create a connection with them. You will only be able to see the documents that the user has given permission to share with you and documents are only valid when viewed in the Verification Portal.

Currently there is no charge to access the Student Verification Portal or the Verification Portal to view documents. Hard copy documents cannot be ordered via these services at this time. There remain charges for replacement parchments, and orders can be made via the University online shop. Please note – students graduating will receive their initial hard copy parchment free of charge, there is a charge for replacement copies. All charges may be subject to review.

Please refer to the user guides on the website, which demonstrates how to use the Student Verification Portal. If you still encounter problems please contact graduation-enquiries@strath.ac.uk providing your name, date of birth and registration number.

If you used your Strathclyde email address to register for the Student Verification Portal and your email address has been deactivated because you have now left the University you need to update your contact email address and username in the Student Verification Portal.

To do this, go to the Student Verification Portal and sign in using your Strathclyde email as your username. Once signed in, navigate to ‘Profile’ and update your personal and contact details in here. Update BOTH your email address and your username to a personal email address that you will always be able to access. Remember to SAVE your changes. If you do not update these you will not receive notifications from the portal should an employer request document verification or for activities such as password reset.
