Study with usImpact of industrial action

At the University of Strathclyde, admissions decisions are made at the programme level by experienced academic selectors who take account of individual circumstances on a case-by-case basis.

Our aim is to ensure fairness and to support students to gain entry to their chosen programme of study, while ensuring that we meet the requirements placed on us by the UKVI in terms of international student sponsorship. In making offers, selectors consider all evidence available including existing marks and awards gained, as well as written confirmation from the current sponsoring institution on whether a student is likely to complete their course successfully (or meet the terms of their current offer), based on their performance. We also aim to make decisions as quickly as possible.

For applicants to undergraduate programmes

Members of EIS-FELA (the representative body for lecturing staff in Scotland’s colleges) are currently participating in action short of a strike (ASOS). This may result in a delay in the processing of results to awarding bodies and the issue of certification for some students.

At the University of Strathclyde, we are keen to enable applicants to begin their studies with us in September and we will ensure no-one is disadvantaged because their results are delayed by issues outside their control. We are in close contact with partner colleges and will be working through the summer to process applications and results.

For applicants to postgraduate programmes

A national marking and assessment boycott as part of action short of a strike (ASOS) was announced by the University and College Union (UCU) and this began on 20 April 2023. Members of UCU working in colleges and universities may choose not to carry out tasks such as marking or processing exams and assessments. This may result in some students experiencing delays in receiving marks or graduating with a full award.

At the University of Strathclyde, we are keen to enable students to join us across all our programmes to progress their studies. To fulfil the conditions of your offer of study we are able to accept evidence of a provisional award and transcript. Please be reassured that we will consider all applicants wishing to progress based on the modules they have completed and passed to date. It may be the case that final results will need to be submitted at a later date with classifications and full transcripts. You will be contacted to provide this as required.
