This accessibility statement applies to StrathApp v4.5.3, released Tuesday 27 January 2026.
StrathApp is run by University of Strathclyde. We want as many people as possible to be able to use it. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
- zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the application using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the application using headings
- listen to most of the application using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of TalkBack and VoiceOver)
We’ve also made the text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible this application is:
We know some parts of StrathApp aren’t fully accessible:
- the tab order is not always logical
- a visible tab focus indicator is absent for select elements
- some component instructions are inaccurate

Enforcement procedure
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
Technical information about StrathApp’s accessibility
The University of Strathclyde is committed to making StrathApp accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
StrathApp is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
- On the ‘Disability and Wellbeing’ screen, the map button has no announcement until it is focused a second time on iOS. This can cause confusion and disorientation for screen reader users. This does not meet WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.3.1 (info and relationships). We plan to resolve this by April 2026.
- Rendering issues are present with text when zooming throughout the application. Users who rely on increased font size may be unable to view all screen content correctly. This does not meet WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.4 (resize text). We plan to resolve this by April 2026.
- The ‘Carousel Selection’ screen does not provide a page title. Without the title, users are unable to easily determine if the page content is relevant to themselves. This does not meet WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.4.2 (page titled). We plan to resolve this by August 2026.
- The tab order is illogical on iOS across the ‘Support’, ‘Campus Map’, and ‘Carousel Selection’ screens. Without a logical tab order, users may become disoriented. This does not meet WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.4.3 (focus order). We plan to resolve this by August 2026.
- When navigating the application, the majority of screens do not have a visible focus indicator. Without a visible focus indicator, users may be unable to determine which element is currently selected. This does not meet WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.4.7 (focus visible). We plan to resolve this by August 2026.
Disproportionate burden
Module Timetable Announcements: On the ‘Module Timetable’ screen, some of the announcements are not informative, as they are announced either only as a number instead of a date, or there is no announcement at all. The external free Flutter plugin is responsible for the calendar announcements, therefore we believe that this would be a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations. We will make another assessment when the timetable supplier contract is up for renewal, likely to be in 2027.
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
The University is committed to providing accessible digital content. Following a project to improve StrathApp’s accessibility and an external audit with Zoonou, we are now taking a continuous improvement approach to ensure accessibility remains a key focus.
We conduct accessibility tests of this application ahead of every major release and our team ensures that accessibility standards are considered in all design decisions.
