Summary

Five full tuition scholarships are available for MSc Data Science for Politics & Policymaking for the 2024/25 academic year. These scholarships are available to applicants ordinarily resident in Scotland joining these courses. These scholarships have been made possible with funding from the Data Lab and Scottish Funding Council.

Applicants will be considered for this scholarship using the information provided on the application form and will be awarded on a competitive basis using the statement of motivation. Please be sure to reference the 'Data Lab Scholarship' in your application. 

The deadline for applications is June 30th 2024.
 

Eligibility

In order to be considered for a Data Lab Scholarship, candidates must:

  • Right to live and work in the UK AND whose ordinary place of residence has been in Scotland for at least three years (not in full-time education) holding an offer of admission for the MSc Data Science for Politics & Policymaking in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences for 2024/25 academic year
  • EU citizens without settled/pre-settled status are no longer eligible to apply
  • Hold, or be on track, to receive a minimum of a second-class undergraduate degree (or international equivalent)
  • Reference the 'Data Lab Scholarship' within the personal statement section of the application form

Terms and Conditions

  • Applicants must meet all of the above eligibility criteria to be considered for a Data Lab scholarship.
  • Applicants who have been awarded a scholarship will be notified by the Data Lab.
  • The awards are available for full time, on campus study only.
  • To receive their scholarship, awardees must enrol in the 2024/25 academic year and continue to meet all of the above eligibility criteria.
  • Applicants will be referred to the Data Lab who will make the final decision. 
  • Successful candidates will be selected on their statement of motivation on the application form.
  • Successful recipients are expected to engage with a programme of events with Data Lab and complete an online MOOC in Data Ethics, AI and Responsible Innovation as part of their studies. More information can be found on Data Lab website.
  • The deadline for consideration is 30th June 2024.
  • The Data Lab's decision on the awarding of the scholarships is final. Appeals will not be considered.

Please note

Please be advised that this scholarship is administered by Data Lab. If you're successful in your application then some information will be shared with Data Lab. This is a condition of scholarship. Your contact details i.e. name and University email address will be provided by the University to Data Lab, for the purposes of administering the MSc course. The ESF Participant Form which you must complete advises that your data will be used by the University for ‘reporting and monitoring purposes and shared with relevant agencies.’ The ‘relevant agencies’ in this instance are Data Lab and the Scottish Funding Council.

How to apply

Please note, you can only apply for this scholarship if you are a student who has the right to live and work in the UK and whose ordinary place of residence has been in Scotland for at least three years (not in full-time education) and currently hold an offer of admission for the MSc Data Science for Politics & Policymaking in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences for the 2024/25 academic year.
