Summary

The Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences is delighted to offer a number of £2,000 Deans Excellence scholarships to RUK students paying Rest of UK tuition fees

The scholarships will be awarded on merit, rather than financial need, to candidates who demonstrate in their UCAS application, potential to succeed in their chosen programme. (This may include academic performance (current and/or previously gained) where grades may be available, or academic references where non-standard qualifications are being taken, responses to UCAS application form questions and any relevant extra-curricular personal development or experience).

All eligible RUK UCAS offer holders will automatically be considered for an award, following the 14 January 2026 UCAS deadline, therefore, no separate scholarship application is required.

Please note the following programmes are excluded from this scholarship: all PGDE programmes, MSW Social Work, LLB Law (Graduate Entry) and Professional Diploma in Legal Practice.

Eligibility

Awards will be assessed on merit, rather than financial need, to candidates who demonstrate in their UCAS application potential to succeed in their chosen programme.

The scholarship is open now, but awards won't be considered until 14 January 2026, following the UCAS deadline.

Important things to note

  • The Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences' scholarships are only open for self-funded, RUK fee-paying applicants enrolling on a full-time course. 
  • All RUK UCAS offer holders will be automatically considered for an award, following the 14 January 2026 UCAS deadline.
  • Students are only eligible for one scholarship per academic year from the University of Strathclyde.
  • To receive their scholarship, awardees must enrol in studies commencing in September 2026 and continue to meet all of the above eligibility criteria.
  • Scholarship recipients will be expected to engage with student ambassador activities during their course of study, such as supporting student recruitment activities and events.
  • The Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences’ decision on the awarding of scholarships is final.
